In the atelier, cabinetmaking develops in close dialogue with architecture and the life it is meant to hold.
Each project begins with observation and conversation, where spatial conditions, daily routines and architectural intentions gradually take form as furniture and interior solutions.
Some projects grow from the established Garde Hvalsøe language. Others emerge as entirely bespoke works, developed for a specific architectural vision. Each project is made for one place, and one place only.
What remains constant is more than three decades of experience working with wood, construction and complex spaces. Everything is made in Denmark, by hand.
Garde Hvalsøe works as both design and production partner.
We enter projects early, in close collaboration with architects, contractors and clients, contributing material understanding, technical clarity and continuity from first idea to final installation.
We do not execute briefs. We develop them.
Ideas are tested, adjusted and refined until they belong to the architecture and to the life it frames.
Each decision is deliberate: wood, joinery, surfaces, and how materials meet.
The measure is simple: that the work holds its relevance over time.
All furniture and interiors are crafted in our workshop in Denmark by skilled cabinetmakers.
Materials are selected with care, constructions refined with patience, and each detail considered in relation to the architecture it inhabits and the way it will be used.
When required, we collaborate with stonemasons, metalworkers and upholsterers, long-standing partners who contribute to the same level of precision.
Nothing is added without reason. The ambition is to create work that belongs naturally to its surroundings and continues to evolve with the life around it.
