Our recent collaboration with Dinesen floors has mainly emerged from a common mindset, and with a passion for wood as a key point. For three generations, Dinesen have produced flooring in a sublime quality and almost all formats, and that we at Garde Hvalsøe, with a background as carpenters, have been brought up with great love for wood, in a unique Danish craft and design culture.

Model Dinesen has a bespoke kitchen or bathroom furniture, exclusively produced from specially selected Dinesen wood planks. We use the large format to create a continuous run in the veins of the wood on the drawer fronts, as well as in the actual piece of furniture that carries the drawers.

As one of our only kitchens, the Model Dinesen is placed on a steel frame. The frame – or the chassis – is made of waxed raw steel with brass details.

Dinesen produce their wood planks of Douglas pine and oak – and naturally, these two types of wood are the same in which we also build kitchens, with various options for surface treatments. For example, the oak can get “smoked” so it gets a darker glow like the smoked oak is known for.

If you happen to be fortunate enough to also have Dinesen planks on the floor, you will get the visual feeling, as if the kitchen is a natural extension of the floor. See and read more on the floors and materials on www.dinesen.com

Model Dinesen with steel tabletop

Dinesen-kitchen with a 1.6 mm steel tabletop integrated in the kitchen island.

With a request to make the kitchen as practical as possible, the client wanted a steel tabletop integrated in the Dinesen-kitchen.
We’ve met this request, by peeling the upper 1.6 mm wood from the cabinet, and replacing it with a steel-tabletop in massive steel.

Another unique Dinesen-carpenter kitchen – here from a protected old property at Christianshavn in Copenhagen.

The customer – World renowned chef René Redzepi – wanted a long kitchen cabinet along the window, and a kitchen island with room for preparation and storage. The kitchen cabinet along the window is in one piece, a total of 5.6 meters and drawers of 70 cm in width. Dinesen’s long floorboards gives a unique look in the drawer fronts from start to finish, as the fronts horizontally have been created out of one plank, so you get a continuous flow of grain patterns. The browned brass sink complements Dinesen HeartOak really well, giving an exclusive look.

Also clearly visible on the kitchen island where the graining going from cabinet side to cabinet top (and tabletop).

Whether it is a modern apartment with high ceilings, or an old protected property with exposed beams in the ceiling, Model Dinesen in either HeartOak, grandoak or Douglas planks easily be incorporated in your project.

For Dinesens new showroom on Søtorvet 5, Copenhagen, we have constructed our new model “Dinesen”. Model Dinesen is a bespoke kitchen, made to measure – and is constructed of selected Dinesen-floor boards. The frame – or the chassis – is made of waxed raw steel with brass details. In this kitchen, we have also constructed a (darkened) brass extractor hood, for the sink and for part of the tabletop near the sink. You’ll also spot green marble on one side, just above the super exclusive Electrolux Grand Cuisine-oven – a masterpiece itself.
